Acting/Filmmaking program at ReAct Studios
Listen to this post:
Are you Canadian or know someone who is? Please check out this call for acting training. It’s in Canada so while you’re there getting your training, they’re paying you to be there. Sigh.
Everything below is directly from their website and application. Find the application at https://
Are you interested in performing in film and video? ReAct is providing full bursaries for people who deal with bullshit discrimination when it comes to acting on screen. With help from the Canada Council for the Arts and Trembling Void Studios, ReAct offers a 6-month training in basic through intermediate performance and career development, supplemented by learning how to write and direct your own content.
We are hoping to engage individuals from a wide variety of communities and strongly encourage racially diverse, culturally diverse and gender diverse peoples to apply.
This is a multidisciplinary approach to visual storytelling where you will
- Be part of a small team creating new content
- Learn from professionals who work in film and the arts in Vancouver
- Learn techniques to navigate the world of film
- Learn voice, movement, and audition technique
- Get in front & behind the camera and develop your own filmmaking style
- Be an awesome person
This course is for artists who identify as people of colour, non-binary, gender-queer and/or trans people, people who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing, and/or living with physical disabilities, mental health obstacles or diverse neurotypes.
We welcome you to find creative ways to apply that suit your style! Make a video, take photos, write a poem! If you’re having trouble with your application, we can help. Email, call, or text us and we’ll work with you to get the application done: firstname.lastname@example.org or 778-8707056.
August 31st, 2015 If space is still available after this time, we will be accepting ongoing submissions.
About the organization
ReAct is an acting and visual storytelling program committed to the creative and social development of emerging actors and content creators. We facilitate the vocational training of these artists who face barriers to traditional post-secondary education and discrimination when it comes to acting on screen (e.g. race, culturally diverse disability, gender diversity, mental health, deaf, hard of hearing, and/or aboriginal).
ReAct wants to look at what is being left out of the mainstream narratives, challenging artists and audiences to take a new look at our world and our stories within it.
ReAct is an arts incubator and community initiative of Trembling Void Studios.
