“Who Am I To Stop It” screening for Millersville University’s Disability Film Festival

Listen to this post:

Since basically everything is happening virtually these days, no matter where you’re located, you’re invited to Millersville University’s free Disability Film Festival in February and March, 2021! Not only is “Who Am I To Stop It” screening, but I’ll be moderating a post-show panel with two absolutely incredible disabled women who I admire and appreciate so much for the February event. The March screening will be for the film “Bedlam.” Sign up now!

Here’s a flyer for the Zoom screening of “Who Am I To Stop It.”

A documentary film on isolation, art, and transformation after brain injury.” Portraits of the artists in the film; festival laurels; captioning, ASL interpretation, and audio description; and logos for New Day Films, The Hollywood Theatre, and the Disability Film Festival (a sporty version of a stick figure using a manual wheelchair with a film reel in place of the wheel). Now, let me get back to that amazing panel, which is why you should come to this event! Toni Hickman’s song “People Pleaser” is in the film. I can’t tell you how amazing it was for me to get that song in my documentary. But to now be able to have Toni on the panel is just like, I can’t even! And Ann Millett-Gallant has made appearances on this blog several times, written a fantastic book on art therapy and her own journey as a disabled woman who then had a severe TBI, and who published a really in-depth review in support of this film. She’ll be on the panel! Again, really, I can’t even anymore.

I’m so grateful to the great folks at Millersville University for hosting a free disability film festival and for choosing this as one of two titles in the online festival.

I’ll just leave you with Toni’s fabulous captioned video for “People Pleaser.” Hope to see you at the free Zoom event on February 17th! It starts at 2:30 pm Pacific time / 5:30 pm Eastern.
