Access Reframed Panels

Listen to this post:

I’m so excited to be invited to be on a panel alongside some real powerhouses in filmmaking and film distribution, including several of my beloved colleagues from New Day Films! You’ve read it here many times before that I don’t like doing accessibility just to meet legal compliance, and I certainly don’t like the typical workflow of completing a film, signing a distribution deal, and only then scrambling to get captions made. But still, a lot of filmmakers and distributors don’t know another way to frame this, and these upcoming panels are just the thing: Access Reframed. Access Reframed poster has a dark background and white text: "Access Reframed. Educate, advocate and enact change toward a more accessible film and media arts world." Presented by Full Spectrum Features, Backbones, All Senses Go, and LaGrish. Funded in part by Illinois Humanities and Chicago Public Library.

There’s a Creator Conversation on October 9, where Deaf filmmakers and disabled filmmakers will discuss how to build inclusivity in filmmaking. And there’s a Presenter Conversation on October 16 about how exhibitors can better serve all audiences and filmmakers through access. I’ll be on the October 16th panel!

Access Reframed events will provide ASL interpretation and CART captioning. If you have any additional accommodation requests, please reach out to Matt Lauterbach at AllSensesGo@gmail.com.
