Anyone who’s followed my work for more than five minutes knows that every project I do is about disability culture or experiences, and that almost every film somehow manages to have cats or dogs in it. In my collaborations with other storytellers, if we can get animals in there, we will. Last year, I teamed up with Jenni Funk to support her in making her first film, Stinky Chicken Dog. I present you now with the premiere of Stinky Chicken Dog 2.
In case you’re curious, Jenni’s dog–Kali the chihuahua–in fact has breath that’s a little bit stinky and is very much a chicken as the films’ names suggest. The films aren’t just about Kali, though. They’re about the complex, tender relationships people with special needs and disabilities have with their animals, whether they’re service animals or companions or pets. There’s joy, sadness, pride, wonder, and even longing. Jenni captures all of it in short films so beautifully.

There’s a set of pictures on the flyer. A large picture of Jenni smiling, looking down at a chihuahua in her lap and petting the dog is in the center. Surrounding that are six individual pictures showing the stars of the film: Kiersi, Rowena the cat, Kali the dog, Brandon, Jenni holding a “life is better when I’m with my dog” pillow, and Chutney the dog. Behind the pictures is a grungy starburst background in pale blue and tan.
You can download and share this pdf flyer for the Stinky Chicken Dog 2 screening.
You can check out pictures from the film and RSVP on Facebook!
