Survey for d/Deaf/HoH folks with media accessibility

Listen to this post:

Brianna Rowlands and Dr. Maryam Salehomoum are working on a project related to media accessibility (for example, factors that enhance vs. reduce a person’s access to and enjoyment of different forms of media such as film, television, and online content). This is Brianna’s Senior Capstone project at Emerson College.

They’re asking adult members of the d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing community to complete a survey about their experiences with and perspectives on media accessibility. The survey can be completed online and will take about 20-30 minutes. The purpose of the survey is to help researchers better understand the current issues with film accessibility. This information might lead to ideas about what they can improve in Emerson’s media production courses and department.

They are seeking participants who identify as:

  • deaf/Deaf/Hard of Hearing or a person who has hearing loss;

  • 18 years or above.

Anyone interested in taking the survey can go to their Google Form survey. You’ll be directed to the consent page and the survey items.

To learn more about the study, contact Brianna Rowlands at brianna_rowlands@emerson.edu or Maryam Salehomoum at maryam_salehomoum@emerson.edu. I’m not involved. I’m just passing it along because I’m super intrigued and really hope Brianna will share the results with the community!

Please spread the word and help get them lots of responses!
