On Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, the Portland Art Museum will host a day full of accessible art events. And it’s free for First Thursday! You can reserve your free tickets now at PortlandArtMuseum.org/tickets. Tickets will also be available at the door. Here’s some of the events being planned. More might be added, so check back on PAM’s event page.
- Meet Tactile Graphic Artist and Braille Transcriber Michael Cantino. There will be a demo of his new Braille video game.
- Meet Guide Dogs for the Blind puppies in training.
- Sensing Art Tour where select art will be audio described and available for a touch tour.
- A community weaving project.
- Screening of short films by DeafBlind multiply-disabled filmmaker Ariel Baska with open captions and audio description at the Whitsell Auditorium.
- Art in ASL’s Look with Me Slow Looking Tour led by four Deaf guides in ASL with English interpreting in various galleries.
- Screening of the documentary Complicated with open captions and live audio description followed by a panel discussion on Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
