I heart brains swag

Listen to this post:

I know that t-shirt campaigns as fundraisers are all the rage right now. And they’re great. You donate to an important cause, and then you get to wear a symbol of that cause for even more awareness-raising.

Here’s me showing off one of my recent t-shirt fundraiser scores. This one is in response to the very odd statement I hear and see a lot that “the only disability is a bad attitude.” I once saw that statement on a Facebook page directly under a post celebrating Justin Dart Jr.’s birthday! Who’s Justin Dart Jr.? Oh, a guy with a disability who helped write the Americans with Disabilities Act. (For the record, his disability was not a bad attitude. It was, you know, a real disability. Cuz they exist.)

It’s hard to compete in an already saturated market of slogans, logos, causes, and events on t-shirts. That’s why my product line also includes water bottles, stickers, pendants, and if there’s enough demand… even soup containers! Here’s one design. (It doesn’t say brainreels anymore if you buy something with this design on it, fyi.)

An illustration of a brain in the shape of a heart.

Here’s the other design, with white text or black text so you can get a dark or a light t-shirt.

"I heart disability" where the heart is a heart-shaped brain.[Image description: “I heart disability” where the heart is a heart-shaped brain.]

I think this design is a ton of fun, whether you’re celebrating brain injury pride, neurodiversity, or the idea that people with disabilities are more than patients and clients. And we can have a good sense of humor too.
