Submit your art to the awesomest brain injury art show: The Creativity Expo in New Jersey

Listen to this post:

Vince Diorio from The Creativity Expo did a brief interview on my show earlier this month. He talked about how and why he started up a professional arts exhibit for artists with brain injury. Cool thing is, once you go into the gallery, it’s not advertised as brain injury art. It’s advertised as art. You can hear me chat with Vince in the “Stories from the brainreels” episode from April 4, 2014 on blogtalkradio.com/brainreels. I’m acting pretty calm right now. But this show is so exciting that I’m feeling pretty twitchy. I’ve never been to New Jersey, but I feel like I might want to take a trip this summer for their 11th annual exhibition.

Featuring the Creative Works of Traumatic and Acquired Brain Injury Survivors."Here’s the flyer for the show. You’ll also find the contact and submission information.

As long as your artwork expresses things within legal limits, the Expo is looking for all types of creative expression. There is no panel judging the submissions. So even if you feel like you’re a new artist, your work can be exhibited. If you’re a seasoned artist, you can submit your portfolio as well!

So if you’re in the New Jersey-ish area, have had any type of brain injury, and you sing, make jewelry, paint, draw, take photos, do fiber arts, and anything else artistic and craft-tistic, please contact them to participate. They’ll provide you with really valuable, detailed information about what kind of work you can submit, where, how, and when. Email Vince Diorio for the submission forms and information or call 703-297-7726. They can mail you the forms too.

Submit your arts and crafts with the submission forms by June 22, 2014.

The show runs Saturday, July 12th to Sunday, July 20th, 2014 in the art gallery at Raritan Valley Community College in North Branch, New Jersey. Artists’ can sell their works, and the artists themselves keep the money they earn. If you ask me, this is about as ideal as it gets. Thank you, Vince and your team of volunteers, organizers, and artists for making this gorgeous event happen year after year!
